Focus Items

  • Two rounds of perennials ship this week.
  • Select stores will receive round three direct ships. (Shipment updates will be sent out upon delivery)
  • Overflow racks need to be communicated on the DM Checklist going forward. Inventory needs should be communicated to Matt Hickey.
  • Pallet displays should be added on the Apron this week.
  • 2G PW/overflow 2G Sun Perennials should be worked on pallets in front of your PW table.

 

4/30-5/6 Perennial AD

 

  • 1G OPP Scabiosa, 1G OPP/VG Salvia, & 1G Creeping Phlox OPP will be on AD starting Wednesday 4/29.
  • Was $7.98 NOW $6.00
  • 1G VG Salvia will also be part of the sale.
  • Overflow racks should be placed by Garden Gates.
  • Three sale signs will be sent in on RD1 orders Rack 1of 1.
  • Transition should be started with RD 1 orders.
  • Pictures need to be submitted by EOB Thursday 4/30

 

  • Water/Shade Cloth
    • Water Update on Mondays DM call.
    • Supervisors make sure you are working with stores to get new watering equipment.
    • Shade cloth should be pulled in all stores this week.

 

  • Negative Space Tables
    • Perennials will be on Negative space tables until May 4th.
    • Tables will transition to annuals next week.
    • Focus should be QT PW, 1G PW, 3G PW shade product.

    • NEW third-party product that we will be merchandising this spring in 40 stores. (Chicagoland Only)
    • Product should be placed near vegetable tables or Rio in the Corral.
    • Districts have store sign kits.
    • Best Practive will be sent out Tuesday.

 

 

  • Accelerator Trees
    • 12x24 signs need to be put up in all stores this week.
    • 5X8 signs are in the sign kit.
    • Strings need to be cut off trees.

 

 

  • Shrubs
    • 20 stores will be shipping to Chicagoland Wednesday/Thursday.
    • PW shrubs will be on AD EDLP/BMSM 4/29.
    • Work with Shrub Partners on Signage.

 Safety

 

        Slips/Trips/Falls- How to prevent.     

  • Pallet and Pallet Jack Safety-proper usage of pallets, no riding the pallet jack, don't leave empty pallets sitting, keep jack from being a trip hazard, use pallets that are safe (no nails sticking out or broken boards.  Keep pallets even to avoid trip hazard.  
  • Hoses and proper use-not leaving strung out, putting up wet floors signs, draining the hose after use, cleaning up the floor(squeegee), putting up a sign in crosswalks where people may walk.  Make sure the hose is in good working condition (no leaks or holes)

Ladder Safety

 

  • Proper techniques while using, locking it before use, don't lean over the edge, use the stairs properly.  Make sure tables are stable and you are using a ladder to access the table before climbing on to hang signs.
  • Do not stand on the table to get plants off the top shelf of racks.
  • Do not walk on the table edge if you must climb on it.  Especially end cap pieces.
  • Having proper nonslip footwear.
  • Cut off shrink wrap entirely to prevent a trip hazard.

How to handle Extreme Temps (Cold and Heat)

  • Avoiding/preventing heat stroke-drinking lots of water, using PPE (hats, glasses, long sleeves) taking breaks when needed.  Wearing sunscreen
  • Proper cold protection-wearing warm clothing and gloves, avoiding icy areas (get salt)
  • Wearing appropriate work attire- no open toed shoes, heels or shoes that are slippery.    

Empty CC Racks

 

  • Cut banners and zip ties off racks.
  • Clean garbage off racks.
  • Pick one spot in the back of the store to use the entire season for empties.
  • Send back starter and gallon trays on one rack.
  • Notify Jeremy Allen when you have a surplus of empty racks.
