OUTDOORS
End Caps – These are the lower pieces of metal in front of each table we use to showcase higher price point items.
Apron – The area in front of the store on the outside of the garden gates.
IGC – Inside Garden Center, not to be confused with the HPA, inside of the gates. This is where we keep shade/part-sun perennials.
Striping – Product that is on one side of the table will be on the other side, making it symmetrical. “We will stripe on the apron and 8 ft Ad sections in IGC.”
Blocking – Product in rows 3 or 4 on one side of the table. We use this to split Sun/shade perennials in the IGC. “We will block in the IGC.”
Flanking – When your merchandise is a taller item in the middle of an endcap and then a smaller of another variety on each side.
Corral – The temporary area in the parking we all use in the spring/summer to merchandise trees, shrubs, tropicals, perennials, and annuals.
Ad Section– The first eight-foot section in front of Y bars in IGC that we merchandise the weekly ads.
Monster Rack – The 3-tiered rack that usually sits right out front of the stores’ main entrance.
Y Bars – Metal fixture used to hang signs and baskets from outside.
Frost Cloth – The white cloth that we use to cover perennials when the temperatures dip too low. It arrives with our first perennial order.
Shade Cloth – The black cloth that covers the shade/part-sun tables.
Hard Canopy – The hard cover over the front of the garden center and the cashier’s hut.
YC – Your choice.
SIGNAGE
POP Kit – Big box that arrives in the spring that contains all of our signs.
Header Signs – The signs that attach to our Y bars, perennials, annuals, etc. Also known as POP.
Pre Printed Signs – The 5×8 signs we get for each store with the Hampshire Farms logo on it.
Ad Table Stand – The 12×24 metal stand that will be placed on the first 8 ft of apron tables and ad sections of IGC.
Ad Table Sign – The 12×24 sign that will be assigned weekly in the outdoor guidelines.
BFS -The 22×17 inch sign that attaches to the tombstone.
Tombstone – The wood or plastic sign holders that hold a BFS.
Sign Holder – Metal stands we use to hold our 5×8 signs.
Was/Now – Used for sale items. They are available in 5x8s and BFSs.
Special Buy and New Low Price toppers – Used behind the 5x8s for sale items.
First Phone – The Home Depot phone used to make labels.
Business Card Labels – The labels that we use most often, roughly the size of a business card. Only used when we do not have pre-printed signs.
Bin Size Labels – This size we use when we need to place a label directly on a plant pot.

HIERARCHY
Associates – The people that help customers and help maintain the department they’re working in.
DH – Department Supervisor of garden.
ASM – Assistant Store Manager- next level of management, over 3 or 4 departments. Probably 3-8 per store, depending on the store.
SM – Store manager. Only one SM per store.
DM – District Manager. Oversees 9 or 10 stores.
MOD – Manager on Duty. There is always an MOD in the store.
